With the upcoming release of their new single New Thought, singer/songwriter Tracy Verdugo has blossomed on to the national stage. Coming out of a long relationship with her former band Twinfish led her to some serious soul searching and the inspiration to fuel her next project. Never one to sit still, she quietly went about the nuts and bolts of putting a new outfit together in conjunction with her writing partner Mex also a Twinfish member.
Tracy resides in a quaint little seaside town in Jervis Bay where she draws most of her inspiration from the pristine shores of Southern New South Wales. When she is not writing, travelling or performing, Tracy is actively involved in teaching art and creative thinking to young students and campaigning for a world free of poverty and war. She hopes to encourage listeners to download music from the website in order to make a difference in the world. A substantial percentage of profits from New Thought will be donated to La Escuela de Esperanza in Tijuana, Mexico.
Award winning songwriter/guitarist Mex has been writing music since he was fourteen, teaming up with Tracy Verdugo seven years ago to form indie pop band Twinfish. The demise of the group has seen the two continue to develop their writing partnership, which has already started to bear fruit for the Long Goodbyes. Experimenting with the unexplored potential in Tracys voice the two began to develop a sound which combines the sexiness of Norah Jones and the quirkiness of Tori Amos. The group have succeeded with a lush backdrop of grooves from the irrepressible John Coleman. John was a student at the Sydney Conservatorium of music and travelled with the SBS orchestra before embarking on a solo recording mission of jazz influenced grooves driven heavily by drums, marimba and vibes. He loves to download music from old jazz masters and obscure musos to listen to on his lounge.
What seemingly looks like an odd mix of musicians, has fused into an infinitely listenable collection of styles and grooves that are more world and jazz influenced than standard pop.
