Then:
Music downloads didn't exist when Tracy Verdugo, singer/ songwriter /artist began her music career at the tender age of 11, singing with the Sydney Childrens Choir. Performing at the Sydney Opera House was a highlight of her young career. She later returned to music after a long break and helped form Indie pop band Twinfish , releasing two EPs and winning three awards during their seven years touring and performing. Since their last performance at the Basement in November 2005, she has been spending her time in the studio working on a debut album with new outfit The Long Goodbyes.
Songwriter/guitarist Mex began his career banging on boxes with broken tree branches. After being told to "quit making so damn much noise!" he turned to the guitar. His dream also began before the days of music downloads when he was a young lad in Mexico. Falling off to sleep, listening to Van Morrison's "Brown eyed girl" on an AM radio station and realising, in a flash, that this was where his future lay. To this day, every time he hears that song he is transported back to that defining moment. Not being able to find a brown-eyed girl of his own, he moved to Australia and found a green-eyed one instead.
For thirty years, John Coleman was in a coma. He has only recently just woken up to the sounds of harps and bells and angelic singing.
He can be found most days on the couch giving advice to those in need. If you have a question for John, feel free to join him on his couch. He occasionally speaks with spirits and hangs out in the otherworlds where music downloads magically and directly into his brain.
